Tooth & Dagger formed in 2020, originally comprising guitarist Iain Sutherland and drummer Chris Watson. (Don’t ask me which one was Tooth and who was Dagger). They were seeking a heavier sound than in their previous project, so drafted in Dante Efemy, a versatile and mercurial vocalist, and multi-talented bassist and singer Lucinda Stevenson.

Their sound is a kind of brutal beauty - thundering drums; melodic guitars and gut-punching bass - the foundation for vivid lyrics delivered in a variety of vocal styles. You’re caught on a hook of melody then bludgeoned with rhythm and noise.

With live music restricted in the UK throughout much of 2021, the band used the time to develop their sound under the mentorship of Jonn Penney (Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, Spairs), and rounded off the year by recording debut EP ‘The Embers’ with experienced producer Simon Henley. The first single from the collection, ‘Heaven Made’, is set for release on March 31st and comes with a video heavy on Peaky Blinder vibes and music that wouldn’t be out of place on the show’s soundtrack. In December fans were treated to a sneak preview, with an acoustic version of ‘Heaven Made’ performed live in session on Black Country Radio.

Tooth & Dagger kicked off their UK shows in 2022 by headlining a sold-out Loud and Live Presents at the prestigious Mitre Inn, live-streamed for free to a growing global audience which includes fan bases in Norway, the USA and Japan. The band are currently busy finalising production of the rest of ‘The Embers’ EP and preparing to shoot the video for their second single ‘Sinking Feelings’, with more shows to be announced soon.
