Described as “the best new emo band in the world” by B-Town champion Tim Senna, and featured in the NME as one of Birmingham’s brightest hopes, Myriam Adams are a band in demand. Fresh from supporting The Wombats at the HMV EMPIRE, they followed up by opening for Bears In Trees at the O2 Academy in Birmingham. Multiple plays on BBC Introducing WM, BBC Introducing Hereford & Worcester and BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, and mainstage slots at festivals like Godiva have cemented their place in the Midlands’ music consciousness, and led to a Rising Star nomination at the Birmingham Music Awards. Alongside all this, they have accumulated over 60,000 streams on Spotify. With their passionate fan base and a shed-load of determination, it seems likely that Myriam Adams will be a name you hear more and more of in the coming years.
In the wake of all that promise and praise, new single “Pick Me Up, I’m Losing My Mind” represents yet another Great Leap Forward for the band. The track feels like The Killers meets Willow Smith or KennyHoopla, while the classic sound of Steve Jones’ ‘77-era Sex Pistols guitar infects the anthemic chorus. The thrilling and dynamic sound is built on a solid foundation of jackhammer drums that could crack concrete and there’s a mad electronic tangent that really shouldn’t work but somehow does. Frontman Jacques Hete considers it “a song that’s honest. I always find with the ALT scene that lyrics get a bit lost in trying to be profound, when in reality it’s just a bunch of big words. This song is just really honest.”
