GAVIN MONAGHAN: THE MAGIC GARDENER
Gavin Monaghan is a producer with more gold discs than Jack Sparrow, a multi-instrumentalist who has produced international number one singles and albums, and a proud recipient of two Birmingham Music Awards awards. (It’s one of them ones, like PIN number).

He honed his skills at world-renowned studios like Olympic, Air, Manor, Battery, Abbey Road and Sarm and learned his craft assisting and watching some of the greatest musical minds in existence. He works with artists in every genre from all over the world, based out of his own studio in the West Midlands where he has been “vibe-wrangler-in-chief” for over three decades. Gavin wears his passion for the area on his sleeve, taking part in mentoring and education, employing local staff and overseeing masterclasses in record production at BIMM Birmingham and The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire amongst others.
Over an impressive 38-year (and counting) career, he has worked with the likes of Robert Plant, Editors, Ocean Colour Scene, The Twang, Tony Christie, The Cult, Grace Jones, Sly and Robbie, Jimmy Somerville, Aswad, Elvis Costello, Terry Hall, Kirsty MacColl, Femi Kuti, Jah Wobble, Meredith Brookes, Goldblade, Nizlopi, Scott Matthews, Lemmy, The Destroyers, The Sherlocks, The Blinders, JAWS, and a whole host of up-and-coming bright young things. King City Online asked this very approachable genius to compile a playlist of tracks he has worked on with local artists and he came up with this little lot - not for nothing is his studio called Magic Garden:
